The Long Walk is about pilgrimage; more than the journey to a sacred place, but the sacred journey of transformation. Of moving through life and passing death, of the rising and setting sun, paths taken and doors left closed.
Inspired by concept art for a music album by the band "The Classic Crime"; the piece was produced while Kevin was settling into new surrounds having recently moved from central Wales to the West Midlands. He was also soon to become a father.
Very much a conceptual narrative piece, with different aspects of the work speaking to death, change, transition, liminality, legacy, forerunners, choice and paths not taken.
The original is 46 × 61cm, acrylic on canvas, painted with brushes, pallette knives, and fingertips.
